Black Onyx TV update…

Hello stranger,

It has been a while! :) I am sorry I have not written in a while. I have been swamped with the film industry lifestyle. Not only behind the camera producing, directing & editing, but also acting here in South Florida. I never realized how easy it would be to become an actor yet so hard to be a good actor.

I have started taking acting lessons and I strongly recommend you do too if you are an actor. Building your resume is one of the keys to getting booked. I will post another blog soon to give you some tips and tricks on finding an agent and getting booked. This will be from my experience only.

Aside from my new acting endeavors and excitedly waiting to see my feature debut on Burn Notice July 29th, I am also waiting to see myself of The Glades. Burn notice is airing on Thursdays at 9pm on USA and The Glades is airing on Sundays on A&E at 10 and repeats at 11pm.

Two very good shows I recommend you see! ;)

I have recently started a meet up group for local independent filmmakers.
The Palm Beach County Filmmakers

Check it out and join us if you like!
As a brand new film group we have learned a lot from our first film project and we have certainly had a lot of laughs since our first short was a comedy written by Dave G. Jones. It was originally written by him as a short commercial skit intended for an ongoing series, but it has been revised by a few of our members to become an awesome full short film. Perhaps a series of these will be in the near future. ;)

I have so much to catch up on with you all, but I have to get to bed and start a new fresh work day tomorrow in the editing room for “Real People. Real Shifts.” I also have a family vacation I am editing and The Love Of Music TV series which can now be seen online at
Black Onyx on YouTube

Talk to you again soon.
Good night,
Talina

Starting a group meet up for West Palm Beach Filmmakers!

“>Join the group today!

As a WPB, FL resident I have found that there are not enough meet up groups for filmmakers like myself to meet up and collaborate. Ever since 2003 I have been seeking to grow a team for my Production company and or just a circle of other businesses to collaborate with.  I believe in team work! Let’s make some awesome films together! ;)

If you fit any of these descriptions you should join us:

Actors, writers, & filmmakers (Camera Operators (both Still and Video), Directors, Dp’s, Gaffers, Grips, Producers, Make-up & Hair Artists, models, & more…)

Brittany Murphy: 1977 – 2009

Brittany Murphy: 1977 – 2009

Today I found myself browsing on Variety’s website and found a picture of Brittany Murphy, which then lead to me reading more about her death on December 20, 2009 and all the wonderful things she did in the industry.

As sad as it is, I prefer not to dwell on her death; although it is hard when we loose such great role models.

I just want to remember what a wonderful spirit she was and still is.  I was always a fan of her work and I am still sad about her passing.

She left behind some great things for us to remember her by.  She really knew how to role with her homies! :) . LOL

Brittany Murphy provided the vocals on Paul Oakenfold’s hit single ‘Faster Kill Pussycat.’ You can see & hear that on the video above.

I am very impressed with her many artistic achievements.  Her friends and family must be very proud.

Delray Beach Film Festival 2010 Recap…

Now that the film festival is over I can finally catch up on some sleep.  Many days and nights filming & editing to turn in the short comedy film for the deadline screening. The contest began on March 19th and the turn in date was March 25th. The winners did great. This year it was a tie.  Good job everyone!

Activity this year for us was…participating in the script to reel contest, attending several wonderful workshops, and I was somehow also able to see a few great independent films as well. I feel like I have absorbed so much info I could burst into success! ;) lol

All the scrip to reel films were great and they all deserve a trophy just for participating. Although our film was not first place we were very proud of our film and happy to hear the many laughs from the audience.

See it for yourself on YouTube.

Let me know what you think. Thanks.
